Presidential Hearing Test

Free Jonathan Pollard, Obama, President, : Dry Bones cartoon.
The latest news in this ongoing story.

There’s this:

Obama receives Pollard clemency call from leading Jews

“National Council of Young Israel executive VP gives US president note on behalf of Jewish leaders pleading for commutation of agent’s sentence.

The Jewish leaders who met with US President Barack Obama at the White House on Tuesday did not raise the fate of Israeli agent Jonathan Pollard in their limited time with him, but one of them made sure Obama got the message.

Following the meeting, National Council of Young Israel executive vice president Rabbi Pesach Lerner, who has been the driving force behind efforts to bring about Pollard’s release, went up to Obama and gave him a note pleading for his life sentence to be commuted.”-more

And there’s this:

Kissinger: Release Israeli spy Pollard

“Saying he found the arguments of other top former U.S. national security officials “compelling,” former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger on Monday called for President Obama to commute the remainder of Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard’s life sentence.

“At first I felt I did not have enough information to render a reasoned and just opinion,” Kissinger said in his Mar. 3 letter, released today by a public relations firm that has been lobbying for the release of Pollard, sentenced to life in prison for espionage in 1987.

“But having talked with [former Secretary of State] George Shultz and read the statements of former CIA Director [R. James] Woolsey, former Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman [Dennis] DeConcini, former Defense Secretary [Caspar] Weinberger, former Attorney General [Michael] Mukasey and others whose judgments and first-hand knowledge I respect, I find their unanimous support for clemency compelling.” -more

And this:

Minister to visit Pollard in US prison

“Israeli Communications Minister Moshe Kahlon will next week make a visit to Jonathan Pollard who is serving a prison sentence in the US for espionage for Israel.

Two months ago, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent a personal letter to US President Barack Obama requesting that Pollard, who has been in prison for 25 years be pardoned.” -more

* * *

But the news item that I long to report is that Jonathan Pollard has been released from his unfair punishment of 25 years in prison!

Heavy rains continue to fall throughout Israel  Kinneret water level rose 1.5 cm, but the lake is still far below the red line; stormy weather to continue throughout the day.

Martini glassWine Talk: Bordeaux is best  The classic blend is used often in other parts of the world, but the original beats them all.

Sadie Cohen lived in a diverse neighborhood on Long Island. Her neighbor was a very generous black woman who stopped in one Saturday and asked,”Mrs. Cohen, I have to go into the City this afternoon to meet my daughter; can I get you anything?”
Mrs. Cohen thanked her and exclaimed, “Listen, I have a commuter ticket for the train that I don’t use on Saturday. Why don’t you use my ticket and you’ll bring it back tonight. After all, it’s all paid for; why should you pay extra?”
The neighbor thanked her, and later got on the train. As the conductor came through the train, he happened to glance at the ticket and noticed the name “Sadie Cohen”.
“Excuse me madam, are you Sadie Cohen, the person whose name appears on this ticket?”
The woman smiled sweetly and shook her head affirmatively. A little suspicious, the conductor asked, “Would you let me compare signatures — would you please sign your name?”
The black lady turned indignantly and snapped, “Man, are you crazy? You want me to write on Shabbos?”

What IS A GRANDPARENT ?

(Taken from papers written by a class of 8-year-olds) You’ll love it:

Grandparents are a lady and a man who have no little children of their own. They like other people’s.

A grandfather is a man, & a grandmother is a lady!

Grandparents don’t have to do anything except be there when we come to see them. They are so old they shouldn’t play hard or run. It is good if they drive us to the shops and give us money.

When they take us for walks, they slow down past things like pretty leaves and caterpillars.

They show us and talk to us about the colors of the flowers and also why we shouldn’t step on ‘cracks.’

They don’t say, ‘Hurry up.’

Usually grandmothers are fat but not too fat to tie your shoes.

They wear glasses and funny underwear.

They can take their teeth and gums out.

Grandparents don’t have to be smart.

They have to answer questions like ‘Why isn’t God married?’ and ‘How come dogs chase cats?’

When they read to us, they don’t skip. They don’t mind if we ask for the same story over again.

Everybody should try to have a grandmother, especially if you don’t have television because they are the only grownups who like to spend time with us…

They know we should have snack time before bed time, and they say prayers with us and kiss us even when we’ve acted bad.

A 6-YEAR-OLD WAS ASKED WHERE HIS GRANDMA LIVED. ”OH,” HE SAID, ”SHE LIVES AT THE AIRPORT, AND WHEN WE WANT HER, WE JUST GO GET HER. THEN WHEN WE’RE DONE HAVING HER VISIT, WE TAKE HER BACK TO THE AIRPORT.”

GRANDPA IS THE SMARTEST MAN ON EARTH! HE TEACHES ME GOOD THINGS, BUT I DON’T GET TO SEE HIM ENOUGH TO GET AS SMART AS HIM!

It’s funny when they bend over; you hear gas leaks, and they blame their dog.

Send this to other grandparents, almost grandparents, or heck, send it to everyone. It will make their day.
